Websites on Stewardship, Faith, and Finances
The following are links to other ministries that we have participated in, supported, or just found to be interesting. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we do:
- Bezeugen Ministries exists to develop disciples of Jesus Christ. This is done using Biblical evangelism methods, hosting discipleship classes, and teaching evangelism training seminars. ("Bezeugen" is the German word for "testify.")
- The Christian Business Men's Committee is an organization committed to evangelism through business contacts and providing support to Christians in the business world.
- The Fellowship Ministries serves the Lutheran Church by providing vital resources for the advancement of the Gospel through Worship, Music, and Evangelism. The concerts presented by this organization are always uplifting, and we particularly enjoyed attending one of their workshops on creating worship services will that attract new church members. The founders are dynamic music missionaries Dave and Barb Anderson.
- Chuck Girard is one of the pioneers of contemporary Christian music. I (Steve) have been a fan ever since his early days in the group Love Song. His ministry now focuses on worship.
- Leadership Network seeks to find where God is moving among U.S. churches to create innovation and health, to link these churches together, then create platforms for other churches to learn from these examples.
- Mission India is an evangelistic ministry to India that has taught us a great deal about stewardship. They document the results of the ministries they support, and consistently show that approximately $5 contributed to them results in another discipled, church-going Christian. That puts a new light on how we use the financial gifts God provides for us.
- Prison Fellowship is focused on one overriding vision: that all those involved in and directly impacted by crime will experience the grace and peace of Jesus Christ. PFM's mission is to exhort, assist, and equip the church in its ministry to prisoners, ex-prisoners, victims, and their families, and in its advancement of biblical standards of justice. To accomplish that mission, PF recruits, trains, and mobilizes volunteers from a variety of denominations and backgrounds to participate in a wide range of in-prison and community programs.
- Probe Ministries is an organization of Christian scholars dedicated to demonstrating the reasonableness of the Christian worldview in every area of life. We particularly appreciate their Mind Games College Prep conferences intended to help Christian high school and college students withstand attacks on their faith at secular educational institutions. To help parents and youth workers, this conference now may include adult tracks in the student conferences and to be available just for adults.
- Search Institute is committed to translating quality research on children and youth into practical ideas, tools, services, and resources to help make a positive difference for kids in your family, neighborhood, organization, or community.
- The Small Group Network provides resources to churches to start or enhance small group ministries. We believe that small groups are a great tool for building relationships among members in growing churches.
The following are links to online Bibles and Bible study aids:
- biblegateway.com provides the Bible in 19 different languages, including 11 translations in English. It provides lookup by reference and by a word search. The search is fairly advanced in that it allows restriction to ranges of book, searches for exact phrases, and the ability to specify “and” or “or” relationships for searches involving multiple words. Audio readings of the Bible are also available. The InterVarsity Press Commentary is being added to the site.
- studylight.org provides the Bible in 3 different languages, including 10 translations in English. It provides lookup by reference and by a word search, including the ability to restrict a search to sections of the Bible. Audio readings of the Bible are also available. This site includes many study tools, including the ability to display translations side by side as in a parallel Bible, numerous commentaries, topical Bibles, encyclopedias, maps, diagrams, and histories. It includes what they call an interlinear Bible, but it is not a true interlinear in that the translation is not word for word. You may display a verse at a time in the Greek or Hebrew along with the King James or NAS version; it is interesting in that it provides three compilations of the Greek test and includes the Greek translation of the Old Testament known as the Septuagint. This site also provides devotionals and daily reading schedules.
- tagnet.org/bible/ provided by Seventh-day Adventists provides simple, fast access to 17 translations. Great for users with slow connections. Can access passages by reference or by phrases.
- www.olivetree.com and palmbible.sourceforge.net provide Bible Reader and Bibles for Palm devices. Great resource for when you want To bring the Word with you!
- audiobible.com Want to listen to the Bible? This site is for you! This site contains the great recording of the King James Version done in the forties by Alexander Scourby.
- bible.crosswalk.com provides 23 translations and a great many study tools. It appears that they use the same source as studylight.org because the sites are very similar.
