Bible 101 Curriculum for Adults
This course is designed in the hope of conveying basic information about Bible study to people who have not studied the Bible regularly, or in a structured way, as adults. Unlocking the Mystery was originally just one of a series of introductory courses that were created to follow the basic doctrine class for new Christians in a church's adult curriculum. There are nine class meetings, each expected to take about an hour.
When we place the Bible alongside the "sacred books" of other major religions, we find the Bible to be unique. This course brings students to a deeper understanding of that uniqueness, engaging them in an enjoyable discovery of how this great Book came to be, how it has been preserved, and why it is so worthy of study.
The curriculum materials, in addition to the plans for nine lessons, include masters for the handouts, which feature historical charts and tables as well as devotional aids and the weekly readings and questions.
“Unlocking the Mystery: Introduction to Study of the Bible” may be used in adult Sunday School classes or in small groups that focus on new believers, or beginning disciples. However, as the hymn "I Love to Tell the Story" observed, "those who know it best seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest." Anyone who has a love for the Bible or an interest in its history will be blessed by this course.
