Well Done! The Common Guy's Guide to Everyday Success
by Dave Thomas
Harper Paperbacks, New York, NY. Paper, 252 pp. ISBN 0-06-100901-6.

Well Done! while not written specifically for Christians, is written by a Christian who had learned to apply his Christianity to everyday life. Some of his lessons come from mistakes being made. Rather than discussion of doctrinal details, this book offers a great many examples of people living out their beliefs.

The book discusses the importance of twelve values that are ingredients of successful lives. These are grouped into four categories:

  1. Inward values that enable us to get our own act together,
  2. Outward values that enable us to treat people right,
  3. Upward values that enable us to excel, and
  4. Onward values that enable us to put others first.

This book is written in a friendly, down-to-earth style that was the hallmark of his appearances in Wendy's commercials during the 90s. It is easy to read with numerous stories about real people doing the right things.

It is apparent that God had prepared Dave Thomas for specific tasks in his life. While it is not explicitly mentioned, it shows that God has different ministries for each of us. We should find our passion and work in that area to improve the lives of others.

We recommend Well Done! to the Christian reader who wants to learn practical applications of Christian principles that he or she can use in life. We also recommend this book to those outside the Christian faith who would be helped by seeing examples of positive life changes resulting from the application of Christian principles.
